"The smiles on people's faces, the sense of achievement, the new friendships and community that is built because of these projects, because of art...that is amazing!"
- MARYANN TALIA PAU
Artist & Founder - One Million Stars to End Violence
We completely eclipsed our target of one million stars, receiving hundreds of boxes from Star Weave Communities across 15 countries including Nigeria, USA, Canada, Kenya, Barbados, Fiji, Tonga, Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Samoa, Scotland, England, Cook Islands and Australia.
Back at Human HQ, each star was counted, classified and packaged for handover to the public art installation team. As part of Festival 2018, the Museum of Brisbane will present a spectacular public art installation of one million stars from the 29th March to the 15th April 2018 in King George Square, Brisbane.

"(This project) touches something deeper - that I'm part of a whole community throughout the world and that just feels really special to me"

ONE MILLION STARS
TO END VIOLENCE
To empower over 100 international communities to hand-weave one million stars for a large-scale, public art installation to inspire light, hope and peace as part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
We activated our network to recruit and grow a diverse collection of communities and individuals spanning a range of sectors including sport, business, arts, justice, disability, young people and the LGBTQI+ community.
Our project team provided each “Star Weave Community” with resources, information and support to tap into their local network and successfully reach their star target. We also supported workplaces, schools, services and individuals to host their own “Star Weave Jam” events to contribute to the tally.
Our team was responsible for designing all marketing collateral and social media engagement for the duration of the project. We were required to manage all logistical aspects including transport, counting and star storage (so many boxes!). Our video crew also produced an overview video of the process.
